What is Mastitis?
The Australian Breastfeeding Association state that, "Mastitis is usually the result of a blocked milk duct that hasn't cleared. Some of the milk banked up behind the blocked duct can be forced into nearby breast tissue, causing the tissue to become inflamed. The inflammation is called mastitis. Infection may or may not be present. If you think you have mastitis, see your medical adviser."
The best advice here is that if you THINK you have it, then see your medical adviser straight away! Taking action immediately can prevent you from being in a lot of pain while still trying to figure out breastfeeding.
Mastitis can have a variety of symptoms and the degree of pain for each one is different for each Mumma. The common symptoms are chills and a fever, run down, breasts hot and sore, skin on the breast can become rash like, and your breast can have hard, tender lumps.
Where you feel the tender lumps is where the inflammation is - mastitis.

"Qiara saved me from days and even weeks of pain and recovery.
I started to feel better within 24 hours!"
What is Qiara?
“Qiara Pregnancy & Breastfeeding contains the patented probiotic strain Lactobacillus Fermentum CECT5716, originally isolated from breast milk, which may help … relieve or reduce breast pain and discomfort associated with mastitis [as well as] reduce the recurrence of mastitis” (Qiara, 2017).
Qiara Pregnancy and Breastfeeding is a probiotic that has been taken from breastmilk. Giving women a higher dosage of patented probiotic strain Lactobacillus Fermentum in their system, helping new mums to relieve the pain of mastitis and even prevent getting it in the first place.
Having been a new mum with a limited understanding of breastfeeding and practical experience, as well as a baby who was finding attachment difficult, my chance of getting mastitis was high.
As your milk supply is establishing in the first 6 weeks, your breasts will often become engorged. This can cause a blocked milk duct which then results in inflammation.
If taken daily, Qiara Pregnancy and Breastfeeding can also help to prevent mastitis as your breasts begin to form a feeding pattern for your newborn and become less and less engorged, Qiara gives you extra probiotics to help your breasts fight getting mastitis.
I did this for my second baby. I was not interested in getting mastitis while trying to recover from labour, feeding round the clock, having an exuberant toddler and being completely exhausted.
I did not want mastitis symptoms in addition to the normal stresses on your body from having a newborn. So I decided to take Qiara daily to help prevent getting it!
