Planning for your baby's arrival is one of the most important jobs you can do while pregnant - besides looking after yourself and your growing baby!
Choosing the best, safest and nasty free ingredient baby wipes is just one way you can prepare for your newborn.
All mums want to have the BEST products and to create a space that is safe, loving and comfortable for their little one.
Since becoming a mum, I have realised just how real this is - just because it says it is a baby product it doesn't mean it is safe and nasty free!
A Planning for your Baby Guide has been written to help you prepare for your baby, while in this article you will find out about which wipes you should avoid and why I chose WaterWipes as one baby product I use and love!
WaterWipes currently on sale now - BULK BUY - at Hello Charlie! BUY NOW!
1. When choosing Baby Wipes, first consider what ingredients a brand uses in their wipes.
I did not choose WaterWipes initially when I had my first born. I used the wipes that I was given at my Baby Shower and then chose to buy what I thought was a reliable and popular brand - Huggies.
Vanessa Layton, from Hello Charlie states that, "Huggies wipes have cleaned up some of their ingredients in the last couple of years. Last time I reviewed these, they had methylisothiazolinone (MIT) and parabens. There’s still phenoxyethanol, silicones (amodimethicone), and cocamidopropyl betaine, all of which I choose to avoid. And the malic acid and tocopherol acetate are allergens. So they’re better than they were, but still not one I’d choose for my baby."
I soon realised that different brands were not safe for my baby's skin and were actually making any rash that appeared to become worse.
I also realised that my son had a skin intolerance to certain acidic foods.
So my son was getting a rash not only from food he was eating, but also from the ingredients in the baby wipes I was using.
"Ingredients in baby wipes have been linked to nappy rash and contact dermatitis. And although some of the big guys have cleaned up their acts over the last few years, there are still irritating and even toxic ingredients in some brands of baby wipes." Hello Charlie.
I started to realise that many of the big brands had ingredients in their wipes that I should be avoiding and not putting them on my son's skin!
I began to question - even without his intolerance, should I be putting these toxic ingredients on a newborn's or baby's delicate skin?
Hello Charlie an eco-friendly online store have made our life a little easier by providing a list of toxic ingredients found in baby wipes that we should be avoiding!
Here are the ingredients we should be avoiding:
If you find these ingredients in a baby wipe then I would recommend changing the wipes that you buy and look for more healthier and nasty free wipes.

What to Pack in your Hospital Bag?
You and your support partner will need to pack three different bags: Mum Hospital Bag, Dad Hospital Bag and Baby Hospital Bag.
Depending on your personal circumstance, and whether you are going to a public or private hospital, you could be staying from 0 nights to 5 (or more) nights at the hospital. So to be safe, pack for a four night stay or more - just in case.
If you need to stay longer have a friend or family member ready to deliver items to the hospital that you need.
It might be a good idea to give them your house key so they can pop in and grab you anything you have forgotten or need.

2. So what are Hello Charlie's top favourite baby wipes?
From research and personal opinion and experience, Hello Charlie believe that the safest and best natural wet wipes are:
Hello Charlie have created a Cheat Sheet that clearly states what ingredients are in what wipes.
If you have bought some baby wipes and are wondering how safe they are, check out Hello Charlie's Cheat Sheet on Baby Wipes.
They will tell you what ingredients are in the wipes, whether they are biodegradable and whether they are scent free.
Vanessa Layton, founder and owner of Hello Charlie, also reveals whether she would use particular wipes on her own baby.
You can find the above recommended baby wipes and Hello Charlie's Cheat Sheet here. Click on the link that says "Read more on our Safer Baby Wipes - Cheat Sheet".
Next I talk about why I chose WaterWipes and two other brands I used from Hello Charlie's recommendations.
3. Why I choose WaterWipes
I decided to give Hello Charlie's suggestions a go and try three of the recommended baby wipes.
I bought WaterWipes, JAK Organics and Tooshies.
Below I have written about each brand and what I personally think about these wipes!
I found out that WaterWipes have only two ingredients: purified water and grapefruit extract.
These wipes are not biodegradable, are unscented and are made in the UK.
"What can I say? Only two ingredients, and the wipes are awesome! Although there are contamination concerns with grapefruit seed extract, I’ve spoken to the managing director of this company personally, and there are no contamination issues with their supply. Great wipes," Vanessa Layton's personal opinion based on her research!
These wipes were just that AWESOME! They are the wettest wipes I have ever used - making it easier to clean softly.
I had zero issues with my son's skin reacting to the ingredients in the WaterWipes and he did not respond negatively when using these wipes - although, like all wipes, they are cold!
Using some other wipes, my son would often show signs of the wipe stinging his bottom - this did not happen with the WaterWipes!
I felt confident when using these wipes - knowing that they only had two ingredients AND that these ingredients were safe which, like all mums, is important to me!
WaterWipes believe that their wipes are the purest baby wipes and state, "At WaterWipes we believe in stripping things back and removing unnecessary ingredients. That’s why we offer the only baby wipes made with 99.9% water and a drop of fruit extract... We are the only baby wipe approved by Allergy UK and the French Association for the Prevention of Allergies as well as to get the National Eczema Association of America’s seal of acceptance."

As you can tell, I absolutely love WaterWipes and their mission to keep their wipes basic, chemical free and safe for newborn and baby skin. In the next section I talk about JAK Organic Wipes!

I found these wipes to be very gentle and moisturising for my baby's skin.
These wipes made his bottom feel soft and he was left with a slight moisturising solution on his bottom.
It felt healthy and smelt clean.
So would I recommend JAK Organics to other mothers? ABSOLUTELY!
"No nasties in the JAK Organics aqua baby wipes. Nice, simple ingredients list and biodegradable bamboo cloth. Another welcome newcomer, and a new favourite for me. Highly recommended," Vanessa Layton's personal opinion based on her research!
The JAK Organics wipes have four ingredients:
Silver Dihydrogen Citrate
Certified Organic Glyceryl Caprylate
These wipes are biodegradable and are unscented!
They tick a lot of boxes and are a great wipe to use!
I personally would be happy to use either these or WaterWipes! They would be my top two favourite wipes from all the wipes I have tried.
JAK Organics state that the wipes are 99.9% purified water and that their "wipes will gently clean skin & wipe away life’s messy moments. Perfect for your little one’s sensitive skin, or your own if you need a quick clean up...
JAK AQUA wipes are

I would personally be happy to use JAK Organic Wipes or WaterWipes on my baby's skin and have stocked up on some for my newborn's pending arrival! Next I reveal what I thought about Tooshies Wipes - scroll down!

The Modibodi has a state of the art patented fibre technology, replaces the need for all nursing pads and is stain resistant and breathable!
"Why we love Modibodi Maternity Singlet Black Leak Proof:
I found that Tooshies are my least favourite out of the three organic wipes I tried.
Tooshies, while they did not irritate my son's skin, were less soft and drier than the other wipes.
Having said this, Tooshies are still better than all other brands I have bought in the passed from Supermarkets.
"Tooshies baby wipes are a good, safe baby wipes choice. Gentle, plant based preservatives, fragrance free and no nasties. The wipes themselves are textured and grippy to help remove messes, and the Tooshies by Tom wipes are biodegradable and compostable, too," Vanessa Layton's personal opinion based on her research!
I personally didn't like the textured and grippy feel - but other mum's may feel differently.
It is definitely based on a personal opinion - as others may feel the grip is great for helping them to remove stuck messes!
These wipes are great in that they are biodegradable and are unscented.
They have nine ingredients:
